Computer Lab Update
October/November
2nd Grade
The grade level will be working on supporting science with Smart Board lessons and websites on force, motion, and magnets.  We will also work on Internet Safety and Keyboarding with Dance Mat Typing and Ten Thumbs Typing.  Students will also learn to publish letters and do basic word processing. I plan to do some math lessons and games with them to reinforce what is happening in the classroom.
3rd Grade
In October we will be working on PowerPoints for the Scout Island trip.  They will learn the basics and complete the project after the field trip.  Students will explore sites on oceans, deserts, and other ecosystems.  They are working hard on Ten Thumbs Typing and will do activities for Cyber Safety Week.  They will also begin a Manga High challenge in Multiplication.

4th Grade
Most students have worked on the basics of word, I will soon turn my attention to Powerpoint.  We will learn to use the features of the program and create a presentation to support what they are doing in science.  Students will be using Digital Passport to learn online safety. There will be a digital quiz for each class too.  There will be an exploration of food chains, food webs, and music.  They will also continue to work on Typing Web goals. We will also have 1-2 Manga High math challenges.
5th Grade
We will continue to work on our word processing assignments on the water cycle.  Students will be using and learning many different parts of the program.  About every other week we will add a new feature to their research.  There will be a focus on internet safety using Digital Passport.  I have created passwords for them to continue this process throughout the year.   I will also introduce Google Apps to them and begin their exciting journey into all the possibilities in that program.  Word processing and Typing Web will be a big focus for 5th Grade!  There will be a Manga High math challenge and many different math activities for them to do.
We will explore art, science, music and math on the web!
6th Grade
I am excited to try many new things with 6th Grade this year.  They are all fully using Google Apps! We will continue to explore this at least every other week.  We have done calendar and email, so next on the agenda is creating a journal that we will add to regularly.  While doing this we will explore the features available for creating documents. I hope to have them save this as something to share at open house.   We will be using Discovery Education, Brain POP, and the Smart Board to discuss Cyber Safety.  We will explore sites on physics, art, and science.   I hope to have them also working on a presentation in Google also, maybe about their camp experience.
